These high speed steel double edge down cut router bits utilize a drill point to punch thru aluminum, initially meant for throwaway tools, they can also be used in trimming and routing often with hand held portable type routers like Bosch, Porter Cable, Milwaukee, and others.  Works well also with non abrasive plastics.  Recommended to use with guide bushings.

These high speed steel double edge down cut router bits utilize a sharp point and slightly different geometry that are also good for punching thru material such as aluminum.    The diameters are large enough not to require guide bushings.  The drill point is meant to go all the way thru the material.
